MAC Meeting in July: Guest Speakers and Location Change!

MAC is excited to welcome Paul Garner and Stephen Lloyd from the United Kingdom. Paul and Stephen will be in the US for the International Conference on Creationism in Cedarville, Ohio, and will be speaking in the St Louis area following the conference.

Our July meeting will be held on Monday, July 24, at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Stephen and Paul will each deliver a presentation, presenting Biblical and scientific reasons for accepting the Biblical account of creation and the Flood.  The schedule for the evening will be:

7:00 PM: Creation & Evolution: Why Does it Matter?  — by Stephen Lloyd
For many, the creation-evolution debate is a relatively minor issue and a distraction from the gospel. This talk will show the debate is about much more than the interpretation of Genesis 1: it concerns the whole story-line of Scripture. Attempts to accommodate evolutionary history render this story incoherent and, in fact, become an apologetic liability in our gospel proclamation.

8:00 PM: Creation, Evolution, and the Scientific Evidence — by Paul Garner
How should we approach the conflicts between evolutionary theory and the story-line of Scripture? This talk will address some of the potential pitfalls and opportunities, showing how we can remain open to insights from science while avoiding science controlling our interpretation of Scripture. Case studies will demonstrate how the Bible provides a conceptual framework that promotes fruitful research and better scientific explanations.
